freshman transition program to-do list

Step 5: Request TU Disability Support Services

Deadline: ASAP

Contact:  Disability Support Services - 410-704-2638

The To-Do List information below is for students entering fall 2011. Information for students entering fall 2012 will be available in mid-April.

Disability Support Services is the office on campus that provides reasonable accommodations and services for students with disabilities. If you need accommodations:

Step 1: Complete and submit a Disability Support Services Application.

Step 2: Provide complete, up-to-date and appropriate documentation of your disability that meets Towson University guidelines. Refer to the Documentation Guidelines for the type of evaluation needed for the specific disability. If your documentation is insufficient, you will be given the opportunity to provide the needed information. DSS may also, as appropriate, give assistance in finding a qualified practitioner to conduct an evaluation.

Documentation may be submitted via fax, 410-704-4247, mail, or in person
at the DSS office located in the Administration Building 232.

Step 3: Meet with a DSS Specialist for an intake appointment to discuss
your disability, and accommodations and services that may be needed.

Upon notification from you of a disability support requirement:

  • Disability support required for classroom or academic-related needs is the responsibility of CCBC but will be administered by Towson University on behalf of CCBC.
  • Disability support required for other campus needs is the responsibility of, and will be administered by, Towson University.

Please note that requirements for receiving accommodations in college may be different than high school. Meeting with a DSS specialist before the semester begins can help you get off to a great start for achieving academic success!

Step 19: Attend Disability Support Services Orientation

 Deadline: August 27 (if applicable)

Contact: Disability Support Services - 410-704-2638
