Step 4: Activate TU NetID

The To-Do List information below is for students entering fall 2011. Information for students entering fall 2012 will be available in mid-April.
Towson will communicate with you using your Towson student computing
and e-mail account, also referred to as your NetID. Your NetID account
provides you with access to:
n Campus computers
- Your Towson e-mail account—Webmail Powered by Google
- Network file storage and Web publishing space
- Towson Online Services for bill payment and online to-do lists
- Blackboard for online courses
- Off-campus access to library databases
It is imperative that you check your Webmail Powered by Google e-mail account regularly for important information about your transition to TU, including to-do list e-mails and other university
communications.
To activate your NetID, you will need your seven-digit TU student ID
number, which is found on your Offer of Participation letter. If you cannot
locate your TU ID number, contact the Office of Admissions, 410-704-2113.
How to Activate Your Account
- Launch your web browser and open http://students.towson.edu.
- Click the Account Tools link to the right side of the page to open the
Account Tools page.
- Under the heading Student NetID (Account) Management Tools, click
Activate Your NetID.
- Read the page.
- Identify yourself by entering the information requested. Your TU ID
number is found on the Offer of Admission letter you received with your
2011 Enrollment Contract Package.
- The system will then prompt you to set a password that adheres to the
displayed guidelines. Enter your password in each of the two password
boxes and then click Next.
- From the Question list, select a security question. If you choose Write
a custom question, enter your question in the box labeled Custom
question. Be aware that when you enter an answer in the next step, it
will be visible to onlookers; be cautious as you continue.
- Enter the answer to your security question in the Answer box and click
Next. Should you ever forget your password, you will be able to reset it
yourself by correctly answering your security question.
- The Account Activation system will display your NetID and e-mail
address. You may print this page for future reference, but be sure NOT
to write your password on it.
If you need to change your password or have forgotten it
- Launch your Web browser and open http://students.towson.edu.
- Click the Account Tools link on the right side of the page to open the
Account Tools page.
- Under the heading Student NetID (Account) Management Tools, click
Change Your Password or Reset a Forgotten or Expired
Password, as appropriate.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
