2011-2012
The U.S. News & World Report 2012 America’s Best Colleges guide ranks Towson University 11th in the public Regional Universities (North) category, placing it among the best of the 46 institutions surveyed.
Towson University has been named a Top Producer of U.S. Fulbright Scholars for 2011. The rankings, released by The Institute for International Education, show Towson first among 29 regional institutions with four U.S. Fulbright Scholars.
Towson University is included in the third annual edition of The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition. Published in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), it is the only guide that focuses solely on colleges that have demonstrated a notable commitment to sustainability.
Towson University is one of 218 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in the "Best in the Northeast" section of its website feature, "2012 Best Colleges: Region by Region.”
Towson University has been selected by The US Green Building Council (USGBC) and The Princeton Review as one of America’s top rated Green Colleges.
Campus Pride’s LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index awards Towson University four out of five stars for its ongoing efforts to produce a safer, more inclusive campus. Since 2001, colleges and universities have been encouraged to update their Campus Climate Index by answering more than 50 self-assessment questions.
Towson University ranked 221 out of 553 U.S. institutions in Washington Monthly’s 2011 College Rankings issue (Master’s Universities category). The magazine rated schools on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and service.
2010-2011
The U.S. News & World Report 2011 America’s Best Colleges guide ranks Towson University tenth in the public Regional Universities (North) category, placing it among the best of the 50 institutions surveyed.
Towson University ranked 422 out of 650 institutions in Forbes’ 2011 America’s Top Colleges list. The rankings are based on five general categories: Post Graduate success (30 percent), Student Satisfaction (27.5 percent), Debt (17.5 percent), Four Year Graduation Rate (17.5 percent) and Competitive Awards (7.5 percent).
Towson University has been named to The Princeton Review’s Guide to 311 Green Colleges (2011), the first comprehensive guidebook focused solely on colleges and universities that have demonstrated a notable commitment to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation.
Towson University is one of 218 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in the “Best in the Northeast” section of its website feature, “2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region.” It also features Towson in its book, The Best Northeastern Colleges: 2011 Edition.
GI Jobs magazine, the premier publication for military transitioners, included Towson University on its 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools.
Towson University received a 2011 Certified Smokefree Workplace Award from the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, in recognition of its “outstanding contributions to the global fight against cancer.”
Towson University has been named to the 2010 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine ranked Towson University 78th on its 2011 list of the top 100 best values in public colleges. Kiplinger’s analyzed more than 500 public schools for both academic caliber—including admission data, test scores of incoming freshmen and graduation rates—and for total cost of tuition, fees, room and board.
The UB/Towson MBA program, co-located in the College of Business and Economics at Towson University and in the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore since 2006, has been cited in the 2012 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools.

U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges guide again ranked Towson University eighth in its 2010 list of the best public master’s institutions in the North.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine named Towson University one of the top 100 best values in public colleges for the 2009-2010 academic year. (Note: The list appears every other year.)
Towson University has been named to The Princeton Review’s Guide to 268 Green Colleges (2010), the first comprehensive guidebook focused solely on colleges and universities that have demonstrated an above-average commitment to sustainability activities and initiatives.
Towson University has been named by the Corporation for National and Community Service to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction, which is the highest federal recognition a college or university can achieve for its commitment to service learning and civic engagement. Towson is the only Maryland school to be named to the Honor Roll with Distinction.
The 24th Black Engineer of the Year STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Conference named Towson University to its 2010 Most Admired Companies in Research Science. The list represents a full array of employers that are working in critical areas of U.S. health care, agriculture, education, government and industry.

Towson University has been recognized as one of the top 25 gainers in underrepresented minority graduation rates for the period of 2002-07 in The Education Trust’s January 2010 Report, Top Gainers: Some Public Four-Year Colleges and Universities Make Big Improvements in Minority Graduation Rates.
Wrost magazine (Poland) ranked the Towson University Executive MBA Program second in all of Poland in 2009. The program is offered in partnership between the UB/Towson MBA and the University of Lodz Polish-American Management Center. The Wrost rankings are among Poland’s most prestigious.
Towson University placed first among several Maryland schools in the Grand Champion and Waste Minimization categories in 2009’s RecycleMania, a national recycling and waste minimization competition for colleges and universities. At the national level, TU ranked among the top 25 percent of all schools in these categories.
