Office Mission & Staff
Mission
The mission of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is to support the achievement of University goals
and objectives by providing information to inform decision-making, policy formation, and planning, and to
coordinate and respond to external requests for data. OIR serves as the principal source of official
institutional data and is a unit of the Provost's Office.
Goals/Objectives:
- Collect, maintain, and disseminate in a timely manner comprehensive and reliable managament information
to support effective institutional planning and decision-making.
- Work closely with the University System of Maryland Office of Institutional Research to meet their
institutional reporting requirements.
- Fulfill the University's reporting obligations to other external agencies including the Maryland Higher
Education Commission and the U.S. Department of Education.
- Respond to external surveys and requests for data and information that assists in maintaining the College's
national profile (e.g. college guidebooks).
- Serve as an archive of both official University data and information provided by OIR to external agencies.
