INTERNATIONAL Undergraduate ADMISSIONS

Application and Deadlines

The following process should be completed by students who are seeking a first-time bachelor's degree or second bachelor's degree. Applicants should hold or intend to seek an F-1 Student or J-1 Exchange Visitor visa to study in the United States.

Steps for Completing the Application Process

STEP 1  Complete and Submit Admissions Application and Fee

Complete the Application for International Students – Bachelor’s Degree Admission (Forms A and B) and submit $30 USD application fee. The application fee may be paid by a check or money order made payable in U.S. dollars to Towson University, or by credit card using the credit card authorization form.

 

STEP 2   Submit Secondary School/ High School Transcript

Submit official transcripts or mark sheets of all secondary school/high school work. Examination certificates, a leaving/graduation certificate or the equivalent documents must also be included. If the original language of the records is not English, certified translations are required.

STEP 3   Submit Post-Secondary School Transcript

Submit official transcripts or mark sheets from all post-secondary schools (colleges, universities or professional schools) attended. If the original language of the records is not English, certified translations are required.

STEP 4   Provide Test Results of English Proficiency (for non-native English speakers)

Submit results of one of the following tests:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 500 (paper-based), 173 (computer-based) or 61 (internet-based). More information can be found from the TOEFL Web site or by calling +1-609-771-7100.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 5.5. More information can be found online.

  • SAT Score Report – SAT I score of at least 470 on the  Critical Reading Section. More information can be found online on the College Board Web site or by calling +1-212-713-8000.

  • Grade “C” or better in a college-level composition course from an accredited U.S. school or other English-language college program approved by Towson University.

  • Completion of Towson University’s English Language Center (Level IV) program. More information can be found online or by calling +1-410-704-2552.

 

STEP 5   Submit Financial Certification (Form C)

Submit official statements of financial resources which guarantee all educational and personal expenses for the first year of study. See the Application for International Students – Bachelor’s Degree Admission (Form C).

STEP 6   Submit Photo ID

Submit a copy of your passport photo ID which shows your complete legal name.

The completed application form, transcripts, test scores, financial documents and application fee must be mailed to:

Application Deadlines for International Students

Fall (September) Semester

Apply by June 1

Spring (January) Semester Apply by December 1

Admissions decisions are made when all documents are received and applications are complete.

Students are encouraged to apply early, especially if they have international transcripts or need their previous course work evaluated by a professional foreign credential evaluation service. Please note the application deadlines.
