The Division of Innovation and Applied Research, formerly named the Division of Economic and Community Outreach (DECO), serves as a point of entry for businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and community members interested in collaborating with the University. Formed in 2004, the Division is comprised of eight distinct-yet aligned research, administrative, and outreach entities. Through these centers, offices, and institutes, we make available our team of 70 expert researchers and technical staff members who, drawing upon their diverse strengths, experience, and unique approaches to problem-solving, create customized solutions that are focused on solving the critical issues facing Maryland's workforce and economy.
