CURRENT STUDENTs
Prior to Fall 2006-
- Curriculum Requirements: Eighteen units of Honors courses and a final cumulative GPA of 3.5. Students who complete a thesis through a departmental honors program or the Honors College in addition to the 18 Honors units are awarded “Honors with Distinction.”
- Good Standing Requirements : To remain in 'good standing' in the Honors College students must maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA (CGPA) during their freshman year, a 3.4 CGPA at the end of their sophomore year, and a 3.5 CGPA at the end of their junior year and each semester thereafter. Students must complete Honors courses at a minimum rate of 3 units per semester (i.e. 6 units at the end of your freshman year, 12 units at the end of your sophomore year, 18 units at the end of your senior year). Honors Probation occurs if students fail to achieve the required CGPA or number of Honors credits in any semester within the class year. Students on Honors Probation are dismissed from the Honors College if their CGPA is below the required level for two consecutive semesters or if they fail to register for Honors courses when they are below the expected number of Honors credits.
Fall 2006 and later-
- Curriculum Requirements: Completion of Honors English composition (or an Honors English seminar), 15 credit hours of Honors courses (9 units must be Honors College seminars), and an Honors project (may be completed by the academic department honors requirements). They must have an overall GPA of 3.3 and maintain a 3.0 average for all courses taken to fulfill Honors College requirements.
- Good Standing Requirements: To remain in 'good standing' in the Honors College students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 every term. Students will be placed on probation after their first term below the required GPA and become academically ineligible to participate in the Honors College if their cumulative GPA remains below 3.30 for a second term. Students need to complete at least 6 Honors units by the end of the first year, 12 Honors units by the end of the second year, and 18 units by the end of the third year. Students who fall below these standards will be placed on probation for one term and become academically ineligible to participate in the Honors College if they fail to reach the standards at the end of the probationary term. Students must maintain a 3.00 average for all Honors College courses taken to fulfill Honors College requirements.
Transfer Students-
- Fewer than 30 units: Requirements are the same as for first-time freshmen including Honors English, 15 units of Honors classes (including 6 units of Honors seminar), and 6 units of Honors Project.
- 30-59 units: Exempt from Honors English (only if GenEd IA: Writing for a Liberal Education has been satisfied with transfer credits). These transfer students must complete 15 units of Honors classes (including 6 units of Honors seminar), and 6 units of Honors Project.
- 60 or more units: Exempt from Honors English (only if GenEd IA: Writing for a Liberal Education has been satisfied with transfer units) and 9 units of Honors version (or Honors course options). These transfer students must complete 6 units of Honors seminars and 6 units in an Honors Project.

Honors College Scholarship Requirements
Students are required to remain in 'good standing' with the Honors College each term to continue to receive the scholarship. Once a student becomes academically ineligible to participate in the Honors College, they are no longer considered a member of the Honors community.
Taking Courses Pass Fail
Courses taken to fulfill requirements for the Honors College may not be taken pass/fail. To graduate as a University Honors Scholar, the student must be in the Honors College at the time of graduation.
