National Museum of the American Indian

April 2007

Students submersed themselves in American Indian culture by touring
through the amazing museum designed by Indians. By touring the displays,
students could see first hand how past indigenous traditions form a basis of
today's cultural heritage. Every tribe ranging from the Alaskan Inuit to the
South American Inca was represented. Students got to taste natural foods from
various regions of American Indian tribes.  On that particular day the
students got to see a Mayan festival, complete with viewing a demonstration
of traditional dances featuring a marimba from Guatemala!
