Self-nominations for the following Departmental prizes should be submitted with the necessary documentation in hard copy to Ms. Pamela Frock, Administraive Assistant for the Department by the deadline listed below. Copies of these forms are available in the Departmental office (LA-4210) upon request. Students may apply for more than one prize. Who is Eligible?



Matthews Prize

Juniors or seniors who are History Majors or Minors and demonstrate excellence based on GPA and merit

Four awarded each year

March 1

$1,000 toward tuition

Mary Catherine Kahl Prize

History Majors or Minors of outstanding promise who have not yet graduated

Nominees must submit one essay to be evaluated by the faculty committee

Arnold Blumberg Prize

Junior or Senior History Majors demonstrating excellence in European History based on GPA and merit

Disabled American Veterans Prize in History

Graduating senior History Majors based on GPA and merit

In case of a tie, more than one award may be granted

Has demonstrated excellence in the study of The Western U.S.  or Native American Peoples based on GPA and merit
