Responses to Hillel Election Application Questions
1) Throughout my first two semesters at Towson University, Hillel has been a significant part of my life on campus. I frequently attend Friday night Shabbat Services, as well as Saturday morning Shabbat activities. In addition, I have participated in multiple FYSH events, including the movie night at Arundel Mills Mall and the FYSH overnight. Many of the friends I have made during my time at Towson University have been through my involvement with Hillel and I intend to continue to show strong support for Hillel in the future.
2) I have a strong desire to be a member of the Hillel board for several reasons. As mentioned in my previous response, Hillel has been a very important part of my college life so far and I feel I have a tremendous amount to offer to the board. Also, I attended a Jewish day school for my entire grade school career and have a good knowledge of the different facets of Judaism and what traditons appeal to the members of the orthodox, conservative, reform and recontructionist communities.
3) My interest in being the Shabbat chair stems from the significance of Shabbat in my life. I have attended a Shabbat service every weekend for the last 10 years or so. This includes both Friday night and Saturday morning. Shabbat has always been very, very special to me and as the Shabbat chair, I would work hard to spread the same feeling I get to the other students as well.
4) My primary goal as a board member would be to try and find ways to draw the members of Hillel closer together and try to appeal to students of all backgrounds. Hillel is important to me and I would like to try and make it just as important to other students as well.
5) While I do not have an previous programming experience with Hillel, I have been a part of programming in other areas. I helped prepare activities at a camp for two years as a counselor. In addition, in high school, I assisted in preparing events for the admissions committee as well as various other projects.
