Please write a paragraph response to the following questions. All responses will be posted on the web:
1) Describe your involvement with Hillel.
This past year I have been pretty active in the Hillel. I am currently on the FYSH Board. I have attended almost the entire FYSH events as well as help plan a few of them. I also have been to many of the Shabbat’s. I have become close with many of the members of Hillel and I feel that I would be a good addition to the Board.
2) Why do you want to be on the Hillel board?
Throughout my four years of High School I was on my Senior Youth Group board at my temple and within that Youth Group I not only made my best friends, but we helped our community by doing a lot of community service events which I loved doing. I also want to be on the board because I feel that the Hillel as a certain stereotype, which I feel, is wrong and I want to help get rid of that stereotype and make the Hillel a more of a fixture on campus for the Jewish students.
3) Why do you feel you would be good for the position that you are running for?
I think that I would be a good FYSH Chair because I am a very social guy and I like interacting with other people. I have two younger siblings so I know I am good with “younger” kids. I also have become friendly with Stephanie as well as Jill, so I feel that between the two of them I have had good people to look up to and see how they ran FYSH and have gone about their business as heads of FYSH. During winter break I attended a Leadershape conference that I feel helped prepare me for leadership roles.
4) What do you hope to accomplish during your year on the Hillel board?
Some things I would hope to accomplish during the year on the Hillel board is that I would like to get more of the freshman involved into the Hillel and plan many fun events for them as well. I would also like ultimately to help get rid of the stereotype surrounding the Hillel.
5) Describe previous programming experience that you have had with Hillel.
With the Hillel I have been on the FYSH board all year and helped plan events such as the overnight and the “Jillian’s” night. I have also done lots of programming for my Temple’s Youth Group back home for four years.
6) Please answer the following if running for President:
