Please write a paragraph response to the following questions. All responses will be posted on the web:
1) Describe your involvement with Hillel.
a. I’m involved in Fysh and go to Fysh events and always try to put my input in the meetings. I go to shabbot dinners often and I hang around Hillel around lunchtime between my classes. I also went on Birthright this passed winter through Towson Hillel.
2) Why do you want to be on the Hillel board?
a. I want to be on board because I like to be as involved as I can in what I do. I feel I would genuinely do a great job and really affect people and the club. I work hard and I think I would do a great job in the position. I like to see things continue and grow and I like being a large part of that.
3) Why do you feel you would be good for the position that you are running for?
a. I think I would do a good job as Fysh Advisor because I’m very good at making people feel welcome. I was really involved in theater in high school and I always made an effort to make the new freshman feel comfortable. I was even invited to their sweet 16s! I know how it feels to be new and the greatest thing is when someone goes out of their way to help you and take you in, and I want to be that person. I think it’s appropriate for me to be Fysh Advisor because I will be so close to their age and have just experienced it. I loved that Jill (this year’s Fysh Advisor) was a sophomore because it didn’t make me feel intimidated. She was able to be a guide while still being a friend. The feeling of being a freshman will fresh in my head and I’ll be able to truly understand how they’re feeling.
4) What do you hope to accomplish during your year on the Hillel board?
a. I hope to get people excited and involved in Hillel. I want to make it something that people genuinely want to be involved in. By having fun activities, freshman will meet people and come to Hillel more often and end up using Fysh as a gateway into all Hillel has to offer, just like I did. I want people to go home and say, ‘hey Mom, I went to some events and they were pretty fun, I think I’m gonna continue going.’
5) Describe previous programming experience that you have had with Hillel.
a. My most memorable Hillel activity was Fysh’s overnight at Kamp Grounds of America. All of us got along so well and it was really nice to all bond about our Jewish identity. I came back from the trip wanting to be the Fysh advisor and become even more involved in Hillel.
b. Another fun event was Howl the Moon. I felt it broke many stereotypes that people may have had. Wow, people at Hillel going to a bar? It was a great way to mingle and relax and hang out with other Jewish people on campus.
6) Please answer the following if running for President:
