Ever since high school I have always tried to take an active leadership role in clubs and organizations when one has presented itself. This year, my first at Towson, has been no exception.
As vice prior of my fraternity it has been my duty to oversee all recruitment, brotherhood and social committee activities.
I am a founding brother of Sigma Alpha Mu and have so far played an active role in all of our activities. I am spearheading SAMMY’s upcoming Poker tournament and all signs indicate that it, too will be a complete success.
I have frequently worked the Hillel table in the Union and have led SAMMY’s co-sponsoring of Hillel social events, such as Vaccaro’s earlier this week. At this event there were a number of individuals there who hadn’t shown up to Hillel functions in the past and everybody agreed a good time was had by all.
In the coming year I hope to work with our FYSH chair and JCSC to ensure greater involvement in and enjoyment of social activities by more people who would otherwise not know nor care about such events.
I have many ideas for the coming year. Among these are renewal of successful programs from this year such as the Welcome Back BBQ, ice cream social at Beach Bums and going to The Crease. Other ideas include a campus-wide afikomen hunt. This will not only be fun but will hopefully raise awareness among non-Jewish students of some customs and traditions surrounding Passover. I would also like to do a karaoke night, movie night, cosmic bowling and laser tag.
My name is David Saidman and I am running for Social Chair.
