Community Health Education Concentration
Students
opting for the Community Health Concentration must select a
Community Health focus area (15 units) from the following: Community
Health , Leadership, Environment, Gerontology, Health Communication,
Health Promotions and Wellness, Maternal and Child Health, Sexuality, or an individual focus area in consultation from an adviser. Students must complete these 15 units with a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
If you decide to pursue the Fieldwork experience you will be prepared to design, market,
implement and/or evaluate health education/health promotion programs for the general
public. Sometimes programs are designed for schools but most often adults are the primary
audience. Community Health Educators prepare materials on the same current health issues as
School Health Educators. They usually work for voluntary health agencies, local health
departments, or occasionally in business and industry settings.
Students in the Community Health Concentration could also choose to minor in another discipline like Spanish in lieu of selecting a community health focus area.
