Careers in Health Education
Towson University's competency-based health education curriculum provides students with the knowledge and the skills to conduct health education programs in a variety of settings. Graduates of TU's community health education program are currently employed by: volu ntary health agencies, wellness centers, health promotion programs, health departments and other sectors of the health care industry.
Graduates from the school health education program are certified Maryland health educators. Many are employed by elementary and secondary schools. Students interested in increasing their career opportunities may elect to major in the dual community health and school health education programs.
Careers in Health Care Management
Students graduating with a degree in health care management find a wide range of career opportunities. Specifically, graduates have found professional positions at hospitals, nursing homes and managed care organizations. Others find positions in areas such as finance, marketing, enrollment and admissions, human resource management, and public relations.
Careers in Gerontology
Students completing the undergraduate degree in gerontology will find that they have many career options. There are jobs in the public, private and nonprofit sectors for students with specialized education and training in gerontology. Entry-level positions are available in programs and services for the elderly, specialized housing developments, health care programs and services, recreation and fitness centers, and businesses that cater to older adults.
