Department of Health Science
The field of health science bridges the gap between scientific discoveries and
the application of this knowledge to improve the quality of life.
The Department of Health Science offers undergraduate degree programs in health science, with concentrations in community health and/or school health, health care management, and gerontology. The department also offers a bachelor's of technical and professional studies degree program in chemical dependency counseling and education through a community college partnership program.
Students who wish to pursue any of these undergraduate degrees must complete the Online Change of Major form.
Students then schedule a meeting with the Department of Health Science Chair, Dr. Sharon Buchbinder, to complete additional paperwork and are assigned a faculty adviser. Students are responsible for scheduling a meeting with their adviser to discuss their program of study. Intentional advising requires student to meet with their assigned adviser every semester.
Several graduate programs are available, including the Master of Science degree in health science with concentrations in administration, community health education and school health education; the Master of Science in applied gerontology; and a post-baccalaureate certificate in applied gerontology.
