Mission Statement

The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics is committed to providing a high quality education, which will prepare students to live successfully and work productively in an increasingly scientific and technological world. Guided by the liberal arts tradition, the college offers baccalaureate degrees in a wide variety of scientific and mathematical disciplines and interdisciplinary fields in addition to well-focused, research-based and practitioner-based graduate programs. The College provides exemplary programs for students preparing for graduate school, professional schools, and careers in industry, government, and teaching. In fulfilling this mission, the faculty is committed to achieving academic distinction through dedicated teaching and advising, basic and applied research involving undergraduate and graduate students, professional service, outreach and educational partnerships that respond to the needs of the Maryland workforce and the greater community.
