Contact Information

Here are connections to a variety of opportunities:  jobs, internships, summer research programs , special events and meetings, calls for volunteers for local organizations, scholarships. etc.  For each listing I have provided links to additional information, contact person, closing date if indicated and posting date.

KEEP  IN MIND THAT LOCAL INVOLVEMENT (attending meetings, volunteering for local organizations) CAN LEAD TO A FUTURE POSITION

If you discover some additional resources, please bring them to my attention so that I can post them for the benefit of others.

bulletJob Announcements .   Openings are posted as quickly as possible.  Sometimes we receive notice quite late.  Deadlines should be taken seriously but often, if the right person hasn't been found, the position will be open beyond the deadline date.  It is always worth inquiring to see whether a position has been filled. Note:  Some jobs can serve as internships.

bulletInternships.  Internships provide valuable learning opportunities whether it is required for your program of study or not.   All students completing  the Environmental Science and Studies program at Towson must complete either an internship or an independent research project sponsored by a member of the Towson faculty.   Note:  Some jobs (see above) can serve as internship sites.

bulletCall for Volunteers.    There are multiple benefits for becoming engaged in the local environmental community:  it is your community and you will reap the benefits of your efforts; you will make valuable professional contacts; you can develop new professional skills which will help you in the job market; it is fun.

bulletMeetings and Special Events.  The Baltimore Metropolitan area offers many opportunities to learn more about the environmental problems and progress in region

bulletResearch Opportunities.   Several federal agencies provide research opportunities for undergraduate around the country.  The 'call' for applications usually starts in early spring.  These competitive positions will give you an opportunity to discover another academic community and help determine whether you wish to pursue a research career.

bulletScholarships/Fellowships.  Information will be posted as received.  Should you meet the requirements for a scholarship listed, contact the funding source even if the posted material is dated.  I don't always get updates.

bulletStudy Abroad Opportunities.   Studying or volunteering abroad can be a valuable and rewarding experience.  It allows for the opportunity to learn about other cultures and to learn their   environmental issues, perceptions and concerns.  In addition to what is seen here, look at the Towson Study Abroad Web Page for other opportunities.
