Arts Education Workshops Help
National City Christian Church seeks a diverse group of artists, actors, musicians, writers, singers, dancers and visual artists who have experience working with children in the community ages 6-12 -- to design and implement arts education workshops during it’s YouthWaves 2004 Summer Arts Enrichment Program. Visual artists(painting, photography, etc.), actors, musicians, dancers, story tellers, poets and writers, all encouraged to apply.

Nationa City Christian Church has a long history of providing educational programs to students in the Thomas Circle area of NW DC.

Artist-in-resident’s time commitment is a 6-10 hours per week (daytime hours), during the DC public school summer break, as well as participation in end-of-program evening celebration.

A group of eight to ten Artists-in-residents will work as a team with Artistic Director and full time program staff, and volunteers to provide a variety of summer arts experiences for students between the ages of 6 and 12 years old.

Visual Productions
The selected candidate will provide assistance to the Aquarium's Visual Productions activities.

Essential functions:

* Assists in maintaining the organization of the NAIB Video Library.
* Assists in the transfer of archived videos to DVD.
* Assists with the editing of projects in Final Cut Pro 5 by logging and digitizing footage.
* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* College sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in film, television or a related field.
* Must have basic knowledge of non-linear editing software.
* Must be able to operate within Microsoft Office systems.
* Must be able to climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
* Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.

Aberdeen Ironbirds Video Production Intern
Cal Ripken and his company, Ripken Baseball, brought Minor League Baseball to Aberdeen, MD (located just 25 miles north of Baltimore) in 2002 to start what is one of the premier franchises in Minor League Baseball. The Aberdeen IronBirds took the community by storm while hosting 38 sold out games at Ripken Stadium. Ripken Stadium is a state-of-the-art 5,800 seat facility which has recently been voted by Baseball America as one of the top 12 stadiums in the entire country. The IronBirds are a Short Season A Ball team entering into its third season in the New York Penn League.

The video production department of the Aberdeen IronBirds is seeking multiple interns for the upcoming 2004 season. The interns will gain real-world, video production skills that will be invaluable to your future success in this business. Madcat Fest seeking Women Directors
"MadCat isn't just a women's film festival - it's an arty showcase of avant-garde experimental films that veer far from the traditional modes of storytelling." Seattle Weekly Dear Filmmaker, The MadCat Women's International Film Festival is looking for submissions for its 8th annual Festival. MadCat seeks provocative and visionary films and videos from around the globe that are original in their use of the medium. The Festival is committed to showcasing women directors who challenge the use of sound and image and explore notions of visual story telling. MadCat screens works of ALL lengths and genres, about any topic and that are produced ANY year. MadCat sets itself apart from other women's festivals by curating its programs thematically and thus accepting a range of films about many different issues. Student Entries Sought for DigiFest SouthWest, June 13th – 19th
The DigiFest SouthWest Film Making Festival
(www.digifestsouthwest.com) today announced a call for TV – I student entries for the 5th annual event, slated for June 13th – 19th, 2004

DigiFest Southwest solicits seven short scripts (11 pages, 12 w/ title page) from around the world, brings the winning writers to Albuquerque to shoot, edit and premiere their movie in one week. The festival provides cast, crew, equipment, locations, catering, and industry mentors.

Submission deadline is April 1, 2004. The entry fee for scripts submitted prior to March 1, 2004 is $35.00, $45.00 following Winners will be announced April 19. Entry forms can be downloaded from the DigiFest Southwest web site.

“We are especially interested in receiving scripts from TV -I students looking to break into the industry,” said Jim “Grubb” Graebner, DigiFest SouthWest Executive Director. “Last year, UNM Media Arts grad Matt Watkins directed ‘The Family Sausage,’ written by UNM student Katie Landon, and we are actively seeking scripts from the TV – I scriptwriting program with Darrell Leland.” Graebner said.

DigiFest SouthWest was established in 1999 by Anthony DellaFlora and Jim Graebner, DigiFest SouthWest (DFSW) www.digifestsouthwest.com formerly known as Flicks on 66, is the premiere film festival of its type.
