Phil Davis received his MFA in Imaging and Digital Arts at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2007 where he concentrated on experimental video production, performance, and installation art. Before coming to Towson University Phil worked as the resident Multimedia Specialist at the Digital Media Center of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Phil is also an active video editor, graphics producer, and animator with experience in traditional hand drawn and stop motion techniques as well as digital 2D techniques. He has experience with production and post production of 16mm film and various standard definition and high definition video formats. His videos, animations, and installations have been screened and exhibited at national and international festivals and galleries. His hand drawn animated short, Cord, has won awards including the Best Central New York Film Award at the Syracuse International Film Festival in 2005 and First Place at the McGuffin Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
Phil is currently working as an animator and musician for a narrative feature film titled The Beast Pageant. He is also currently producing, directing, animating, and editing a music video for the Spinto Band and beginning preliminary tests for a series of short experimental animations utilizing a flatbed scanner and various found objects, rocks, dirt, and plants.
