FOUNDERS SOCIETY
Message from the Founders Society Co–chairs
We are honored to represent you as the 2008 Founders Society leadership team. When we were asked to comment on why we choose to support Towson University at the leadership level, each of us reflected on our personal journeys. We invite you to read our stories here and on the spotlights throughout the Founders Society web pages. We hope you will develop your own reasons and accept our invitation to join.
Public universities are often the most accessible option for people who, like me, are first generation college students. In my current work, I witness firsthand the power of alumni to transform institutions. A leadership gift to Towson University is many things-it is a symbol of respect for former and current faculty; it is an opening to a new set of relationships; it is a commitment to the future of a deserving institution; it is an investment in human capital; and last but not least, it is a spark that warms the heart of the donor. If you are contemplating a gift of any size, don't hesitate, do it today.

Towson University reflects my personal commitment to high quality, affordable higher education that enriches the whole person - through academics, research, civic engagement, athletics, and social responsibility. The university makes a difference in my life by allowing me to serve our students, faculty, staff and community in a profession I love and in a way that allows me to support the growth of others. I am secure in knowing that my contribution really does make a difference.

One of the greatest gifts we can give to our children is the gift of education. This can take the form of actual teaching by example, but the formal education of higher learning institutions such as Towson sets the stage for a young adult’s life. Parents’ gifts at the Founders Society level do so much to further the educational process by providing the facilities, scholarships, grants, books etc. that can turn our children into national and world leaders.

The Founders Society's two-year charter membership effort closed June 30, 2007. We extend our sincere thanks to the 693 members who chose to join.
Who are charter members?
• 360 alumni, including 108 former student athletes
• 243 friends of the university
• 53 parents of current students
• 82 faculty and staff members
• 8 parents of TU alumni
• 2 current students
In two years of membership, Founders Society members contributed over $3 million to the university. Members supported a wide variety of university priorities, and the top three areas of impact remain scholarships, the University Enhancement Fund and Tiger Athletics.
We hope our charter members will continue to join us as we build the future of Towson University.
