  Friday February 24th

Interested in getting involved with TigerTHON, Towson's Dance Marathon, check below for answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

What is TigerTHON?

A 12- hour dance marathon to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, a member hospital of the Children’s Miracle Network.  Students gather to dance, listen to music, enjoy games, be involved in nonstop activities, and meet the children and families who benefit from the Children’s Miracle Network. For 12 hours, dance teams remain on their feet.

How can I be involved in a dance marathon team?

Grab one or more of your energetic and fun friends to create your team and register together.  As a team, you can raise money, adopt a child to dance for, go canning together, etc…  Raise money before the event and compete for awesome prizes such as round –trip airline tickets anywhere in the USA, a free party, gift certificates, and other valuable prizes. Competitions will be Greeks vs. Greeks, Student orgs vs. Student orgs, Residence Halls vs. Residence Halls, and Groups vs. Groups.

What is a dance team?

A group of two or more people that will be dancing for 12 hours.  This year, the dance marathon is more of a “tag team relay,” requiring that at least half of your team is on the dance floor at all times. All participants are welcome to dance at any given time.

What constitutes “dancing”?

No skill level is required at all. As long as you are standing on your feet, we consider you to be “dancing.” So if you don’t think you’re a great dancer, we will think you’re great simply because you’re supporting the cause.

How much money does each dancer need to raise?

There is a $15 registration fee for each and every dancer. You can fundraise for your registration fee.  We also ask that you raise at least $100 each through canning, sponsoring, letter writing, etc… Turn in your registration form and $15 registration fee (cash or check written to “Towson University”) in the Office of Student Activities (UU, 217).

How will dancers eat throughout the event?

Don’t worry! We’ll be providing all of your meals and snacks, from dinner, breakfast, lunch, to healthy foods and drinks. There will be bagels, juice, fruits, veggies, pizza, Mexican, ice cream and lots more!

What kind of music will be playing?

The music will definitely vary throughout the 12 hours. We will have theme hours throughout the event, with matching music and outfits. We encourage our dancers to bring props and outfits for the theme hours. Bring your favorite “stuff” for ‘60s hour, ‘80s hour, Teen Pop Hour, Hip Hop Hour, Disney hour, movie theme song hour, pajama party hour, Red Hot Hour, and much more!
