A product of American dance culture, she has studied with an eclectic array of teachers
from coast to coast including Vasili Sulich, Alaine Haubert, Yasuki Sasa,
Alwin Nikolais, Murray Louis, and Michel Zaplatilek. Jaye has performed
the repertory of Doug Nielson, Stephanie Skura, Lisa De Ribere, Art
Bridgman/Myrna Packer, and Stuart Pimsler as well as the work of numerous
independent artists. Her background includes professional credits in ballet,
modern, jazz, conventions and nightclub revues. Jaye received a Hawaii State
Choreographic Award for her modern duet BeFallen in 1989 and has been
selected by audition to participate in choreographic works with Robert Dunn
and Jennifer Muller/The Works sponsored by the Mayor's Committee on Art
and Culture in Baltimore. She is an Associate of the Royal Academy of
Dancing (ARAD), holds the intermediate certificate in Labanotation, and has
recently reconstructing Ruth Currier's version of Doris Humphrey's Waterstudy
for the TSU Dance Company. Other reconstructions include Marius Petipa's
Don Quixote, Jules Perrot's Pas de Quatre, and most recently, Ann L.
Rodiger's Scrabble . Jaye teaches modern technique, composition, pedagogy,
and is the coordinator of K-12 certification in dance. While in Baltimore,
she has begun her seventh season with the Towson Ensemble Dancers (TED),
and has worked with Pheonix Repertory Dance Company. She has been a
member of the faculty of Children's Dance Divison, Technical Coordinator
of Towson Ensemble Dancers, and is a founding member of the
Improvisation Collaborative.
