UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

September 20, 2004

 

 

 

            Professor Marzotto called the first meeting of the University Curriculum Committee to order at 3:35 p.m. in the Towson Room of Cook Library.  She explained that  she was chair last year and asked the committee members to introduce themselves.  She reviewed the organization of the committee and its Subcommittee on Course  Approvals.  Gail Gasparich was elected chair of the Subcommittee on Course Approval.

 

    By acclamation, Professor Buchbinder was elected chair for the 2004-2005 committee year.  Professor Marzotto volunteered to continue to update the web page and Ms. Hofstetter will continue as Secretary.

 

    Professor Moore was present to explain the change in name for the “Theory and Criticism” track to “Film and Media Studies”.  The motion to approve the name change was made by Professor Marzotto and seconded by Professor Sarhangi.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

    Mr. Reuling reported on new requirements for proposing new programs to MHEC.  Deans should sign a Declaration of Intent From and a budget must be provided.  He said this form would be posted on the Provost’s Office website.  He also mentioned that the Deans would like to sign off on Approval Forms.  He will seek clarification on that.

 

    Florence Newman attended the meeting and spoke about the change in the Latin American Track and the change in Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

 

    Professor King moved and Professor Marzotto seconded a motion to approve the Latin American track changes.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

    Professor Kubitz moved and Professor Crawford seconded a motion to approve the changes in the Medieval and Renaissance Studies major and minor.  The motion carried unanimously. 

 

The 2003-2004 Annual Report was received.

 

The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
