THE CoSMiC* SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
FOR SELECTED “STEM” STUDENTS AT TOWSON UNIVERSITY
FOR FULL-TIME STUDY in FALL 2009

The CoSMiC* Scholarship Program at Towson University:
Computing, Sciences, and Mathematics in College Star
Funded by U. S. Government’s National Science Foundation, under the program S-STEM entitled:
Scholarships - in -Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
SUMMARY OF NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
- There are a LIMITED number of these scholarships and they are competitive.
- They are ONLY for FULL-TIME undergraduates and graduate students specializing in these majors: Applied Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Forensic Chemistry, Mathematics, or MB3 (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics). Students awarded will enroll in a one-credit careers seminar course.
- They are ONLY for students who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents or refugee aliens.
- They are ONLY for students who have applied for financial aid through the U.S. government via the FAFSA and have been informed they are eligible for federal grants awards.
- They are ONLY for students who have meritorious academic records and who demonstrate extraordinary scholastic promise (requires at least a B cumulative grade point average)
ONCE AWARDED, THESE SCHOLARSHIPS PROVIDE:
- A stipend of up to $2500 per semester is available for undergraduates and up to $5000 per semester for graduate students (the amount depends on each person’s financial eligibility).
- Once awarded for the first time, the scholarship may be extended by maintaining ALL of the requirements listed above. As many as four academic years of awards may be awarded for undergraduate students; up to two academic years of awards may be awarded for graduate students.

- Applications for Fall 2009 awards are being accepted NOW.

- The DEADLINE for completed applications to be received is 5 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009; however completed files will be reviewed starting April 3, 2009.
