MAISA (The Maryland Alliance for Information Security Assurance)
would like to invite you to
our latest workshop.
Security Injections:
Integrating Security in the Curriculum
Despite its importance, computer security education is often limited to specialized courses and tracks that reach only a small percentage of students, often late in their academic careers. Effective security education must begin in introductory programming courses and is also important in computer literacy courses.
Janet Oren is the Chief System Engineer in the Information Assurance Architecture and Systems Security Engineering Group at the National Security Agency. She has worked with the Centers of Academic Excellence for over 10 years. She will share her thoughts on integrating information assurance into the curriculum and the state of information assurance careers for graduates.
Instructors from Towson and Bowie State will present and provide access to security labs that address important security issues such as integer overflow, input validation, and phishing among others. These labs are prepared, tested, and ready for immediate use in a range of courses, including introductory programming and computer literacy. These labs are available online at http://triton.towson.edu/~cssecinj
Location: Towson University, Terrace Dale, Suite 145.
Date: Friday. September 17
Time: 12:30 – 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided at 12:00
Please RSVP to Lisa Loewe at 410 704-4909 or mloewe@towson.edu.
Please forward to any interested colleagues.
