Where
Have All the Women Gone?
Learn
how Research has shown us that there is no cause for the lack of women
in STEM but rather a leaky pipeline that begins before kindergarten.
Look
around you as you sit in your science classes! Where are all the
women? Most classes are taught by males and most seats are filled with
male students. Except for biology, less than 30% of the faculty in the
sciences are women. In engineering the national average is less than
10%. While women are more than 50% of the undergraduate population,
most STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classes –
except biology – have less than 20% female students.
