Minutes from General Meeting, April 3, 2007

All 8 E-board members were present
10 people attended
President, Brian Ward, announced:
-We are cosponsoring speaker Mike Tidwell with the Towson Energy
Activists (TEA) and Greens. On April 9th from 8-9:30 in the Susq.
Terrace.
- Our group was nominated for the Hoke L. Smith Outstanding
Student
Organization Award. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
- The QSU Drag Show is April 4, 2007 in the Chesapeakes at 8pm;
you
need to buy tickets at the box office in UU1 to attend.
- "Chill Out! Campus Solutions to Global Warming" will happen
April
18th at 3pm. The location is TBA but Al Gore will have a broadcast and
so will the video the TEA made.
-Elections will be held Tuesday April 24. You can run for any
position! Please tell Brian Ward by April 21
Vice President, Paul Day, announced:
- Thanks for everyone who canvassed for Health care for All/
Tobacco
Tax for Health Care
- The last date for canvassing is Saturday April 7. We will meet
in
UU2 at 12.
Brian Ward, on behalf of Treasurer Bryon Burzynski, announced:
- We are getting a supplemental for our bus trip to DC and to see
Al
Gore at UMBC
- We are having concession stands April 14 and April 28. Please
sign
up!
- Thanks for all who helped at the bake sale.
Director of Media Relations, Sean Lawlor, announced:
- The Towson Progressive is a shorter issue because of Spring
Break.
We will contact you soon about writing for the next issue.
- Made a flyer to attract more people to our meeting and group.
Director of Events, Lauren McDade, announced:
- Thanks to everyone who came on the Annapolis trip
- DC Bus Trip is Saturday April 21. More details to come.
- Towson has started a committee that addresses environmental
policy.
Please give Lauren any suggestions about this.
- In the near future we will show "The Take" which is about
Argentinean workers. We are possibility co hosting this with the
Greens.
- Concert for Democracy is May 11! The Skakabobs are now playing
the
show.
Director of Campaigns, Matt Bohle, announced:
- We will table for Voter Registration April 12
- Ryan Coleman and Keiffer Mitchell will come speak by the end of
the
semester.
Director of Internet Communications, Rachel Alexander, announced:
-Look at the changes made to the website.
Director of Political Organizing, Alicia Schuller, announced:
-Monday April 9th at 4pm in the Potomac Lounge there will be a
speaker who will talk about Guantanamo Bay.
- We will table Tuesday April 10 from 10-4.
- Discussion: The Division of the Left
The Left is so broad when comparing the DLC, the DNC, the
Progressive Democrats and the Greens
The media has the ability to depict the Left as dangerous
Alicia passed out a chart outlining where these four
groups stood on
different issues like Iraq, global warming and the economy
The meeting was adjourned at 6pm. The next meeting is scheduled for
April 10, 2007.
