Minutes from General Meeting, Tuesday, March 6, 2007
Location: Chesapeake II
The meeting started at 5pm.
14 people attended
The entire executive board was present.
President, Brian Ward,
made the following announcements:
-Rachel Alexander is our new director of Internet Communications.
-Canvassing was successful this weekend. We got 20 people to call
Senator Kasemeyer. In total, we have had 37 people call his office
-There will be an Anti-War protest on Saturday March 17th at the
Pentagon.
-Baking party at Brian's house on Wednesday at 8:30 for the bake sale
Thursday.
Vice President, Paul
Day, made the following announcements:
-The canvassing for Health Care for All is successful.
-Letter writing party to newspapers after the meeting about the
Tobacco Tax
-We will have Lit Drops Saturday March 10 12-4. We will have
canvassing on Sunday 12-4. Please attend whatever you can.
-Community Service hours: Canvassing will count towards it. Adopt- a-
Campus will be Wednesday the March 14 3-5.
Treasurer, Bryon
Burzynski, made the following announcements:
-We are having a Bake Sale tomorrow in the first floor of the Union
from 10-4. There will be a chocolate fountain!
-We have a budget with trips scheduled.
-We voted for the top two we wanted. We voted to go to Boston and
Philly.
Director of Media
Relations, Sean Lawlor, made the following
announcements:
-Thanks to everyone who submitted to the Progressive. We had some new
writers and interesting articles!
-We are having a poster making party for the Ground Truth on Friday at
8 in the Susq Terrace.
Director of Events,
Lauren McDade, made the following announcements:
-We will show the movie the Ground Truth at 7:30 in Lith 200. Please
attend and bring friends!
Director of Campaigns,
Matt Bohle, made the following announcements:
-A presidential information sheet was handed out.
-Matt will be Volunteer coordinator for Ryan Coleman's campaign. He is
running in Baltimore and is a Towson alum.
-The Democratic Unity party will take place in Annapolis on monday
March 26. Martin O'Malley is the keynote speaker.
Director of Internet
Communications, Rachel Alexander, made the
following announcements:
-We are creating a facebook team. Basically invite your friends to all
the events we have via facebook.
Director of Political
Organizing, Alicia Schuller, made the following
announcements:
-We will be tabling next tuesday and Thursday.
-We had a discussion on impeachment:
-A lot of us wanted to see Bush get impeached
-We feel he should be accountable for breaking the law
- Democrats and republicans should take a firm stand on this.
- Bush only has a little time left in office. Impeachment would
almost be symbolic
The meeting was
adjourned at 6pm. The next meeting is scheduled for
March 13, 2007.
