Minutes from General Meeting, Tuesday, February 6, 2007

Began: 5:00 pm
All 8 E-board members were present
20 people attended
President, Brian J Ward
made the following announcements:
- T-shirts “We
move Forward” “Best Add on Campus” on sale $12
- Involvement
Fair 11-2 2nd floor of the Union
- Fair trade
coffee is now downstairs. Thank you Chris!
- Tiger Pride
day-Feb 22nd- 8:30-4- We need 2 representatives from
Democrats to go
- Lobby to
delegates for funding
Vice President, Paul Day
made the following announcements:
- The creation of
a brochure- for a professional look
- Contains
the platform, some fun photos, information for Towson Campus
- We have the
area around the University Union area
- Sign-up and
Help for February 20th
- We can
update it frequently and everyone can have discussions
Treasurer, Bryon
Burzynski made the following announcements:
- New Merchandise
–Fun buttons and pins!
- We have a Bake
Sale February 13 10-4 Union 1st floor
- Concession
Stands for fundraising: TBA
Director of Media
Relations, Sean Lawlor, made the following announcements:
- The Towson
Progressive will be released by the end of the week
- We need
writers for future publications
- Respond to
Towerlight articles (specifically the conservative
columnist)
Director of Events,
Lauren McDade, made the following announcements:
- Donkeyfest next
week- Chesapeake II at 5pm
- Movie “Ground
Truth” March 14
- Trip to
Annapolis/DC later in the semester- There will be more
information to come
Director of Campaigns,
Matt Bohle, made the following announcements:
- Information on
Presidential candidates will be provided in the near future
Director of Political
Organizing, Alicia Schuler, made the following announcements:
- Tabling and
Flyering (see calendar for dates, times, and locations)
- 12:30-2 next
Wed Flyering outside of Linthicum
- Vote on which
of the 3 Amendments we want to add to the platform concerning
the Dems position of the Iraq War
- Discussion
amongst the General members
- Some
thought cutting funding will put the troops in more danger
- Some
expressed a need for more than 6 months to remove troops
- Others
believed a quick redeployment was appropriate
- The
discussion was through and lasted for 20 minutes
- The majority
voted for Proposed Amendment 2 which will be added to the Towson
University College Democrats’ platform
The meeting was
adjourned at 6pm. The next meeting is scheduled for February 20, 2007.
