Economics 6th-8th: Indicator #3
Students will develop economic reasoning to
understand the historical development and current status of economic principles,
institutions, and processes needed to be effective citizens, consumers, and
workers participating in local communities, the nation, and the world.
In the context of United States history through 1877, world history through the Middle Ages and in contemporary world geography, students are able to do everything required at earlier grades and are able to:
Analyze the relationship between the
availability of natural, capital, and human resources, and the production of
goods and services now and in the past.
Rice: The
Global Crop from
the ASKASIA Lesson Plans Web page provides a detailed mini-unit that compares
rice growing in Indonesia and California. In the activities, students
deal with the concepts of land, labor, capital,
labor-intensive and capital-intensive. This link will take you to the
organization's Web page, click 'instructional resources', then 'lesson plans',
then scroll down the page until you find this title listed.
