| Your Task: To Kill a Mocking Bird (TKM) by Harper Lee, is set in small town America in the 1930s. The book highlights many of the era's major issues, focusing in turn on race relations, social injustice and class conflict. You may even find there are striking similarities, as well as differences, between the world of "Scout" (books main character) and your own. The novel, as well as this research quest, will ask you to explore what conflict is and how and why the 1930s are a classic example of a society conflicted with itself. In your final project (a multi-paragraph essay), you will need to demonstrate how your topic was effected by or effected the growing conflicts of the 1930s. |
