Meeting FAQ

When does the CLT meet?

We do not yet know when and where we will be meeting this semester.  This will be updated as soon as we know.

If you don’t know where that is, here’s a map!  Hawkins Hall is the building denoted by the HH.

What is a libertarian, and am I one?

A libertarian is anyone who wishes to reduce the size of government to its constitutional limits.  We support individual Liberty and personal responsibility.  To help you better understand libertarianism, we offer our libertarianism page.  To find whether you might be a libertarian, there are multiple political quizzes online, such as the World’s Smallest Political Quiz, offered by the Advocates for Self-Government, and Politopia, offered by the Institute for Humane Studies.

How long do the meetings last, and can I come late?

Meetings usually last an hour, but sometimes last as late as an hour-and-a-half.  We have no problem with members showing up late, or leaving early, if they need to.

What is discussed at the meetings?

We usually begin our meetings by discussing business.  For example, if we have an event planned, we discuss how things are progressing, and what needs we still need to meet.  After that, we usually have a discussion topic of political relevance.  To see what we discussed at previous meetings, visit our minutes page.

Do I have to be a registered Libertarian to join?  I have some friends that are interested in libertarianism, can they attend?

One doesn’t have to be registered as a Libertarian to be a member.  Anyone who wishes may attend, and we encourage you to bring friends.

I’d like to join, but my schedule conflicts with your meeting time.

Unfortunately, this happens.  Luckily, we do hold events on campus which you’re allowed to attend and lend your support.  If you can’t attend the meetings, but wish to be added to the mailing list, email us.

How old is the club, and are you recognized by the school?

The club was created in the Fall semester of 2002 by Amy Triplett.  We are officially recognized by the school, and are affiliated with the Student Government Association (SGA).  However, we are not budgeted by the SGA.

If you would like to learn more about our organization, be sure to visit the About CLT page.

I am not a student at Towson, but I would like to start a Libertarian group at my college or high school.  How can I do this?

First, check to see if a Libertarian organization already exists on your campus.  If so, find out who’s running it.  If no Libertarian organization exists on your campus, and you still wish to start one, contact campus@lp.org or click here.
