October 2006I’m proud to be an american
Here in the land of the
free
Where my tax dollars must be spent
On social security
Yet I cannot play online poker
Because gambling is “wrong”
But we can play
state-run lotto
And lose money all year long
They tell us what to eat,
What to wear and what to think
They send
teenagers off to die in a war
Before they can order a drink
They tell us who we can marry
And what we can watch on TV
They tell us we
cannot pay for sex
Though it’s legal to do it for free
They’re allowed
to tap our phones
Or even search my car
They tell us that we cannot
smoke
While sitting in a bar
Yes I’m proud to be an american
Where freedom rules the day
Though what
these freedoms really are
I’m not sure I can say.
