What is Circle K?

Circle K is a service organization through which college students can find a means of responsible student action in their communities and a more active involvement in the life of their campus. As clubs learn about the needs of their campuses and communities, they develop hands-on activities to address these problems. Circle K International is the world's largest collegiate organization dedicated to service and leadership development with more than 500 clubs in nine countries. It is not the size of the organization, however, which gives it its identity or provides it with its primary source of pride and satisfaction. Rather, it's the mission and the objects of the organization that set Circle K apart from other student organizations. "College is more than a pursuit for a scholastic degree -- it offers good times, getting to know others, personal development, and meaningful contributions to the world. Circle K provides a unique opportunity to make a difference now -- Circle K is the total college experience." (Capital District Website)

What does that mean at Towson?

TUCK (Towson University Circle K) is a co-ed community service organization on campus. We focus on the three points of Circle K- Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. As a member of Circle K you will become a leader on campus. You will develop skills that will aid you in life during and after college. We know how to have fun, and we do as much as possible by having various socials throughout the year. Most importantly, we have daily service projects, so there's something for everybody, even if you have a hectic schedule (like most of us do!). There is no minimum amount of service expected; you do as much as you want. Every little bit helps! You make life long friends at Circle K, and take with you valuable experiences to cherish.

What is Service?

As one of the three tenets, service is a fundamental element of Circle K International. Collectively, Circle K members perform more than one million hours of service on their campuses and in their communities annually. Without service, Circle K International would be just another campus activity. Through service, college students are making the world a better place.

As a sponsored program of Kiwanis International, Circle K International shares the focus of serving the children of the world. In support of this effort, the Circle K International service initiative is Focusing on the Future: Children. This initiative encourages members to address the issues facing children ages six to 13 and to find solutions through service for addressing these issues.

Service Initiative
The Service Initiative of Circle K International was designed to educate all Circle K members about the problems and issues that face children worldwide, ages six to 13. Through personal interaction and public awareness, we will enable children to develop the skills and ideals necessary to be successful.*

What does leadership mean?

Through the mission and vision of the organization, Circle K International is dedicated to the realization of mankind’s potential. The potential of Circle K International lies in its ability to positively influence members of society who are facing ultimate personal decisions and those who will one day create the vision of mankind for generations to come. Leadership opportunities afford Circle K members the resources and tools needed to become active citizens. Circle K’ers can assume leadership responsibilities at all levels of the organization and through various experiential training conferences.*

What does fellowship mean?

If there is one thing that Circle K’ers know best, it is fellowship. Whether they are planning a car wash, visiting shut-ins, reading to three-year-olds or conducting business, Circle K members across the globe take time to meet and welcome new people. With each element and aspect of Circle K International, members experience fellowship and develop life-long relationships with fellow collegians, advisors, Kiwanians and citizens in their communities. Whether a Circle K’er is mentoring a child, networking with a businessman, or bowling with members, that Circle K’er is developing social skills, meeting new people and strengthening relationships.*

Circle K Pledge:

I pledge to uphold the objects of Circle K International , to foster compassion and goodwill towards others through service and leadership, to develop my abilities and the abilities of all people and to dedicate myself to the realization of mankind's potential.

Who's our Kiwanis Sponsor?

Kiwanis International's motto is "We Build." One way we do this by sponsoring youth programs from grade school through college. We help to build/mold  the future LEADERS of community through our guidance and dedication to them as they grow into each phase of their education process. The Kiwanis Club of Towson - Timonium is PROUD to sponsor the Towson University Circle K. We have served the greater Towson communities since 1929. The Kiwanis Club of Towson-Timonium also sponsors the Dulaney High School Key Club.

Who's our Kiwanis Advisor?

Roger Eve  is a Dual-Citizen of both Britain and the United States. He came to the US in 1981 to run the North American operations of a British based Manufacturer of Construction Equipment in Whitemarsh, MD. After becoming a Naturalized Citizen in January 1991, he then spent 8 years in Wooster Ohio and 2 years in Colleyville Texas, also running Construction Equipment Manufacturing companies.

He retired back to Maryland in 2002 with the intention of involving himself in some civic and volunteer organizations. Morry Wexler , an old friend and ex-neighbor of the late 80's, invited him to join Kiwanis. He has been involved in the various projects operated by Towson/Timonium Kiwanis, including becoming the HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth) representative and attending the Key Club meetings. He will be on the Board starting October 1st, and is delighted to now be the Circle K representative. He also volunteers at Trinity Church Long Green, and the Outreach Center - Paul's Place.

Roger has two children Natalie (35) and Jason (32), both of whom are here in the States. He and his wife, Anne, enjoy Northern Baltimore County very much. Fun facts to know and tell about Roger, is that he's 57 (58 in November), has a degree in Automotive Engineering, and is a self-described "car nut"!

Who's our Lieutenant Governor?

My name is Jason Cantera. I am the Lt. Governor for the Susquehanna Division of the Capital District Circle K International (CDCKI). I sit on the district board representing Towson University, University of DE, The John Hopkins University, and McDaniel College CKI Clubs. I am your voice on the CDCKI board. My job as LTG is to serve the officers and members of each club. I have been a member of the Kiwanis Family for almost 10 years starting back in Builders Club. I was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Elkton before entering into Towson University CKI Club. To learn more about me, checkout my website by clicking here.
