Wellness Center Director Bill Forbes Elected President of NAKPEHE

William J. Forbes, professor of kinesiology and director of the TU Wellness Center, was recently elected president of the National Association for Kinesiology and Physical Education in Higher Education (NAKPEHE). Established in 1978, NAKPEHE is a national organization for higher education professionals that promotes leadership in administration, policy, professional preparation, scholarship, and teaching through interdisciplinary initiatives related to kinesiology and physical education. Forbes has been involved with NAKPEHE since 1998 and has served as the organization’s vice president, issues editor for The Chronicle of Kinesiology and Physical Education in Higher Education, and chairman of the membership committee.
Forbes is also director of the TU/Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) Senior Fitness Center Project, a partnership between TU and the BCDA that currently operates eight senior fitness centers within Baltimore County.
College of Health Professions in the News
The June 2007 issue of "Metropolitan Universities News," the quarterly online publication of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU), included a feature story on the Senior Fitness Center Project, an innovative partnership between the College of Health Professions and the Baltimore County Department of Aging that offers health and quality-of-life benefits for the county's senior citizens.
