Cherry Hill Neighborhood

Cherry Hill, one of the southernmost neighborhoods in Baltimore, is a relatively isolated enclave within the city, bounded by the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River to the north, the river's main channel to the east, and railroad tracks to the west and south. The only roads leading in or out of the neighborhood are Hanover Street, Potee Street, and Waterview Avenue. There's an MTA light rail stop at the northwest edge of the neighborhood.

Developed as a planned community for African-American veterans returning from World War II, the Cherry Hill community today has about 7,600 residents and is still largely African-American. The median annual income for homeowners in the community is $17,464. The majority of the households in Cherry Hill are headed by single females. The neighborhood has the highest concentration of public housing in Baltimore.

Baltimore City Public Schools

The following Baltimore City Public Schools are located in Cherry Hill: Cherry Hill Elementary/Middle School (K-8); Patapsco Elementary/Middle School (K-8); Arundel Elementary/Middle School (K-8); Carter G. Woodson Elementary/Middle School (K-8); Southside Academy High School (9-12); and New Era Academy Magnet School (9-12).

Faith Community

Cherry Hill has 15 churches, two Kingdom Halls, and a Ministerial Alliance, which plays an active role in community-based initiatives.

Cherry Hill Town Center

The Cherry Hill Town Center, on the corner of Cherry Hill Road and Seabury, was redeveloped by Catholic Charities with public and private support.The Town Center provides accessible shopping to the community and entrepreneurship opportunities for local residents.
