Assistant Professor, Forensic Science Programs

Position:
Applicants are invited for tenure-track faculty appointment OR clinical faculty appointment starting Fall 2012. Ph.D. in forensic science, chemistry or molecular biology required for tenure-track position; M.S. or Ph.D in one of these fields required for clinical position; professional work experience in a forensic science laboratory or in analytical chemistry with applications to forensic science required for either.
Requirements:
Applicants are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and, for the tenure-track position, to show potential for productive, externally funded forensic science research. Position supports the Department of Chemistry, undergraduate Forensic Chemistry (FEPAC-accredited) and graduate Forensic Science (FEPAC-accredited Professional Science Masters) programs through teaching selected courses, developing curriculum, academic advising of students and participation on programmatic committees.
Department:
The Department of Chemistry is ACS accredited, with 17 tenured or tenure track faculty, actively engaged in externally funded research involving undergraduates and graduate students. The Department enrolls about 400 undergraduates in Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry Secondary Education and 45 graduate students in the Masters in Forensic Science. The B.S. in Forensic Chemistry and the M.S. in Forensic Science are among a small number of nationally accredited programs through FEPAC. The Department supports the undergraduate and graduate Environmental Science programs and undergraduate Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics program.
