-Each participant will be given a pedometer and log book.

-Participants will keep track of steps each day.

-Each Monday during the program participants should email the  following information to

counterculture@towson.edu

  • Name
  • Group Name (if applicable)
  • Total WEEKLY steps for the previous week

-The week starts each Monday and ends Sunday. The total WEEKLY steps should reflect Monday through Sunday, the totals from week to week are not cumulative.

-Weekly prizes will be awarded for categories such as most steps per week, most improved, and more!

-Each Wednesday an email will be sent to participants with weekly prize notifications and wellness related tips.

-Participants who miss the Monday deadline for submitting WEEKLY total steps will not be eligible for that weekly prize, however late submissions will still count towards program totals.

-The program is based on the honor system. Please be honest with yourself and others and report only accurate step totals.

Group Component:
-A group consists of 2 or more people who choose to participate in the program together rather than individually.

  • Those participating with a group are not eligible to participate for individual components of the program.

-Members of a group will track personal steps, just as one would for the individual component of the program.

-A group average will be used to compare one group to another in the event that groups are compared.

  • Group averages will be determined by adding the total individual submitted steps together and dividing by the total number of submissions.
    • Example 10 people in a group, 10 people submit total steps, totals are added and divided by 10.
    • Example 10 people in a group, 5 people submit total steps, totals are added and divided by 10. (if a group member does not turn in steps it will count as a zero toward the total average. Groups should encourage each other to tally steps and submit them.)

-Members of a group are asked to submit their personal name, group name and total steps each week.
