You have climbed a few times before - are you ready for the next step? Through this program you will learn how to use the equipment and safety systems for belaying other climbers at the wall. After completing this program you will be ready to take the practical belay certification assessment.t.
Lead Climbing Clinic
Available by making an appointment at Peregrine’s Nest Climbing Gym

Ready for the sharp end of the rope? So you have been climbing for a while now and you are ready to start leading. Make sure you learn proper technique and avoid mistakes like back clipping and Z-clipping. Our climbing instructors will show you the basics of lead climbing and belaying and then let you mock lead on our wall.

Want to learn rock climbing necessities? This is the clinic for you! We’ll teach you climbing terminology, balance, weight shifting, hand/ foot placement and much more! You’ll be 10 steps ahead of other beginners after this clinic. Please wear comfortable clothes to climb in. All other gear is provided. |
Kayaking Clinic
Every Wednesday, 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. from September 2 until December 9

Prepare for outdoor white water in Burdick Hall’s swimming pool. We offer instruction for beginner and experienced paddlers. Learn everything from how to exit your boat underwater to perfecting your roll with professionals to help assist in polishing your skills. Equipment is provided.

Bike Maintenance 101

Learn basic bike maintenance; how to change a tire, clean your chain and keep your bike up and running so you’ll have no trouble getting to campus on time. Please bring your own bike.
Backpacking 101

Be safe when going into the backcountry. Through this clinic you’ll learn the basics of trip planning; picking a location, a backpacking menu, mapping, leave no trace ethics, what clothes to wear and gear to bring. Everything you’d need to start planning a weekend backpacking trip!
Map and Compass/ GPS 101

Don’t get lost in the woods without this clinic under your belt! Learn the basics of map and compass and the GPS. Learn everything from shooting bearings to setting waypoints. So get out there, find your bearings and get hiking!
