Adult Classes - Spring 2012

 POTTER'S WHEEL & Hand Building
ages 12-adult 

5 Saturdays, 9:45-11:45am

March 31 - May 12
(no class April 7&14)

Create unique ceramic artwork with ordinary clay and a spin of the wheel. Learn to use the potter’s wheel and imaginative handbuilding and glazing techniques to produce one-of-a-kind ceramic objects and vessels. Topics include wedging, centering and wheel throwing, along with coiling, slab construction and glaze applications. Working with clay can be a therapeutic process as you make something beautiful with your hands. Returning students will be able to concentrate on either the wheel or hand built construction. For beginners and intermediate students. Includes firing fee.

Intro to Digital 3D Modeling
ages 12-adult 

2 Saturdays, 9:30am-noon

3D modeling for everyone! Create anything you can imagine – redecorate your house, design a game environment, invent a new gadget, draw a background in perspective for an illustration, there is no limit to what you can create with SketchUp. This course will introduce students to this intuitive and versatile 3D modeling program. Participants will learn to create custom digital models that can be applied to an endless variety of professional or creative projects, from animation to interior design to video-game creation. Best of all, the SketchUp software can be downloaded for free, so you’ll be able to put your new skills to use right away on your home or office computer.

Digital PAINTING & DRAWING
ages 12-18 

4 Saturdays, 9:30am-noon

April 28 - May 19

Learn to draw and paint, using the computer as your art tool. This course is an exciting introduction into art-making skills of the 21st century. Students will create unique art in Photoshop using state-of-the-art technology: widescreen iMacs, digitizing tablets for drawing with a stylus, scanners, and a Wacom Cintiq to experiment with touch-screen drawing. Using their imaginations, along with references including photographs, personal artwork and “found objects/images,” students will create new and original digital compositions. Discover the possibilities! Participants should bring a USB Flash drive.

GLASSWORKS!
Warm Glass Fundamentals
ages 14-adult 

4 Saturdays, 9:30am-noon

April 28 - May 19

Warm glass, cool art! Learn the basics of the fascinating medium of kiln formed glass. Explore pattern creation and the magic of fusing brilliantly colored pieces of glass together into unique objects. All the essentials will be covered: glass cutting, color technique, kiln control, and adhesives. Finished work can be incorporated into mixed media artwork, stand alone objects or turned into wearable art. Beginners are welcome as well as those with stained glass experience.
