                                                                                                                Undergraduate Research Opportunities

At Towson, we offer several opportunities for Undergraduate Research.  One way to get your feet wet is by doing a summer project.  It's a great beginning for a future Biologist!

For information on paid summer research internships at other universities and research institutes, check out the National Science Foundation REU program site. Deadlines are nearing for applications so if you are interested check today!

Another way to see what's out there for undergrads is to keep an eye on this site.  When an opportunity arises, it will be posted here in the green box below.  Remember, aside from being challenging and fun, gaining research experience as an undergraduate is one way to put yourself above the competition.  Go ahead, impress yourself.

Extensive information on undergraduate research opportunities at TU and off-campus can be found in the Biology Major's Handbook.

We are particularly interested in supporting talented students from institutions where access to
marine science and to research projects is limited and who are from underrepresented groups in
science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Since 1989, NSF has supported bringing students to conduct individual research projects with a
scientist-mentor at either Chesapeake Biological Lab or Horn Point Lab of the University of
Maryland Center for Environmental Science.

If you are interested and ready for an exciting summer  neuroscience  research experience, consider applying for BRAIN   2010. The Atlanta-based BRAIN program invites applications for Fellows who would like to participate in a 10-week summer research program. This program provides full room and board plus a stipend. Those eligible to apply are undergraduates and recent post-bacs who are enthusiastic, hard working, detail oriented, and who want to engage in cutting edge neuroscience research. Some accepted Fellows will be working at the molecular or cellular level in laboratories, others will be working with small animals and some may be collecting data and doing research at outdoor field sites. Projects may include day or evening work. Be a part of an exciting summer research experience! For more information see:  http://www.cbn-atl.org/education/brain.shtml.
