Dr. Sarah Bruce, Senior Lecturer, Department of Biological Sciences, Towson University

Research Interests:

  • Effective use of inquiry-based instruction to enhance students' approach to learning and lead to deeper understanding, greater application, and better retention of course content

  • Effective strategies for teaching information management in science with focus on the introduction of freshmen science majors to the primary research literature and its analysis

  • Development of evaluation tools to measure the effect of web-enhanced instruction on learning outcomes; development of strategies for instructional use of the web that have measurably positive outcomes on student learning success

  • Use of animation software to develop web-based interactive study module on major concepts in biology for out-of-class use by non-major introductory biology students
