2008 Percussion Audition Information:
The TUMB will be holding percussion auditions for Battery and Front Ensemble on Monday 5/5 and Monday 5/12 from 3pm to 8pm. Auditions will be in 15min time slots.
The audition will be very laid back and will be designed to give the staff an idea of where the students might fit best in the drumline. Final spots in the Battery and Front Ensemble will not be set
unitl August. To schedule a time slot, you can sign up on the sheet outside Mr. Miliauskas's office or Battery contact Percussion Head Matt Lusky at luskymc@gmail.com or 302-723-1620; Front Ensemble should
contact Allen Kessel at akessell81@yahoo.com to schedule a time.
Battery Requirements: Students will be required to play a legatos exercise, a doublebeat exercise, a accent/tap exercise, a rolls exercise, and then a short 1-2 minute solo. Students will also be asked to sight read some rhythms
Front Ensemble Requirements: Students will be required to play 6321, kraus mallets, 2 mallet intervals, and a short 1 minute solo of their choice. They will also be asked to sightread some music. Any questions about the Front Ensemble audition can be sent to Allen Kessel

The Towson University TIGER Marching Band is offering two full time graduate assistantships available for
the 2008-2009 academic year. Graduate assistants receieve an annual stipend of $5,000, band camp compensation of $1,000,
and a tuition waiver of $8,800. Total assistantship package is worth up to $14,800. Click here for more details

Family Friends Performance: Tomorrow's annual Family Friends Performance has been moved from Unitas Stadium to the Lower Athletic Field.
The Lower Athletic Field is right next to the soccer field and visible from the 'Home' side of Unitas Stadium. To get to the field you can park in lot 19 or 20 (Campus Map).

Center for the Arts (CFA) and the Guard should report to Burdick gym. Breakfast will be served in CFA at 8:30. Practice begins for all members

Change of Start Dates for Band Camp
Because of housing restrictions, band camp will now start on the following dates for the following people:
Friday, August 17th – Percussion Battery & Pit
Monday, August 20th – Everyone else including: Color Guard, and all Brass and Woodwinds.
Anticipate a morning move into the dorms with rehearsal beginning in the early afternoon. More specific times will follow. SMAC members (student leaders) will have a Saturday evening meeting and preparation all day Sunday.

Summer Rehearsals – On Campus
Brass and Woodwinds
All brass and woodwind members will have one music rehearsal during the summer. It is important that all new
and returning members attend this rehearsal. We will run through pre-game music with new members, introduce
halftime music to everyone, and also do some auditioning for parts (i.e. Trumpet 1, 2, or 3). Your attendance
is expected unless you have a previously planned extravagant vacation with your family. :-)

Color Guard and Percussion
Over the summer the color guard and percussion sections will have several rehearsals. It is important that all members
attend their respective rehearsals. The attendance expectation is that if you’re in the area, you should be at rehearsal.
If you live over 2 hours away, please do your best to attend at least 1 or 2 of your rehearsals. If you’re family has
planned a vacation to an exotic island right next to paradise, don’t worry about missing that rehearsal!

Practice today will be INSIDE and in the FINE ARTS BUILDING.
We will all meet in the new band room, which is room number 3071 (this is the same room as the old band room 390). Since a lot of you haven't been in the new building here's how you should get there....Go into the building through the glass lobby entrance on Cross Campus drive up by the Towers. Go to the 3rd floor of the lobby and find the hallway that is all the way on the right. Go down to the end of that hallway and you will find the band room. Super Drum Major Greg Jackson will be in the lobby starting at about 3:10 to help you find your way :)
If you get lost you can call my cell phone 410.935.0899 and I will try to help you...although that's probably a lost cause for some of you :)

Some details about today (Wednesday).
* Anticipate that rehearsal will be outside. Any changes will be posted on
the website.
* Everyone should bring their Shako (hat) to rehearsal!
* We will break from band at 5:00 and return for the pep rally at 6:15.
* Dress for the pep rally is our casual uniform polo shirts and khaki¹s.
* The list for complimentary football tickets will be distributed at
rehearsal and the pep rally. It must be handed in Thursday morning. If
you¹re new to the band, you get at least two people into the game free.
* Complimentary tickets will be different since all seating in the stadium
is reserved this year. We will have to hand in ³the list² on Thursday before
Saturday games.

TIGER Band Alumni!
We would like to invite you to our first 'official' Alumni Band event! Please come and join the TIGER
Pep Band at the men's basketball game against the College of William and Mary on Saturday February 26th
at 4:00 PM (please arrive between 2:45 - 3:00). The TIGER Pep Band has grown in size and energy since
many of you were in the band and we think you will enjoy playing with them. It's also a great opportunity
to come back visit your alma mater and see what has changed since you left; such as the massive renovation
project underway at the Center for the Arts. After the game we hope you will stick around and help us start
putting together some ideas (while enjoying some pizza, snacks, and drinks) on the Alumni Marching Band we plan
on having at next years Homecoming game. If you don't have your instrument anymore or always played on a school
instrument just let us know and we'll be happy to provide on for you.

GUARD - Mike Pearson (the uniform guy) will be here on 11/30 from 3:30 until
4:00 to check out the uniform fittings or lack there of. Therefore, all
guard members must be there at this time.

practices. It is located just outside the stadium across the street from the
field house. If you do not know where this is, meet here at the Center for
the Arts and someone will walk over with you. A section leader should come
here first to make sure everyone knows where they're headed.
Can someone put up a sign here and near Burdick so those who show up at
those places know where to go?
Percussionists, we need to get the equipment in the truck secured ASAP, so I
can drive it over to the field.
I know this is difficult, just get there between 3:30 and 3:45 as soon as
you can.

For the first time this fall, The Towson University Tiger Marching Band will
perform at the University Band Exhibition held in Allentown, PA! The date of
this year's show is Sunday, October 10th. Towson will join such powerhouse
university bands as: The University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching
Band, the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band, the West
Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band, the Indiana
University of Pennsylvania Marching Band, along with many others. More
