Summer Rehearsal Information
Below are summer dates for the Towson University TIGER Marching Band! Attendance at summer rehearsals is expected, but flexible. If you’re on an exotic vacation bird watching the penguins in Antarctica, well then you’re excused. ;-) If you live many hours from campus, please do your best when you can. If you live relatively close – see you at rehearsal! :-D

The summertime is a great way for us to get a head start on the fall season! We usually have just one music reading session for the brass and woodwinds, but because of Macy’s, we want to get ahead of the game. This will alleviate unnecessary stress during the fall. If you have any questions, let me know.

Battery and Front Ensemble Summer Rehearsals
  • Location – Center for the Arts
  • Saturday, June 13 - Front Ensemble - 10 am- 6 pm
  • Sunday, June 14 - Battery- 10 am – 6 pm
  • Sunday, July 12- Battery and Front Ensemble- 10 am – 6 pm
  • Sunday, July 26- Battery and Front Ensemble- 10 am – 6 pm
  • Saturday, August 8- Front Ensemble- 10 am – 6 pm
  • Sunday, August 9- Battery- 10 am – 6 pm


Color Guard Summer Rehearsals
  • Location – Burdick Field or Burdick Gym (weather)
  • Sunday, June 14- 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Sunday, July 12- 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Sunday, August 9- 12 pm – 5 pm

Summer Music Reading Sessions for all Returning and New Brass and Woodwinds
  • Location – Kaplan Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts
  • Sunday, June 28 from 1 pm – 5 pm
  • Sunday, July 19 from 1 pm – 5 pm
  • Sunday, August 9 from 1 pm – 5 pm
Band Camp
  • The following are days when band camp will begin for certain sections of the band:
  • Wednesday evening, August 19th - All SMAC Members (student leaders)
  • Thursday, August 20th – Battery percussion and all color guard members
  • Friday, August 21st– All brass, woodwinds, and pit percussion (both new and returning)

Announcements
  • (4/26/09) Percussion Auditions Sign-up Form

    We are very excited to announce auditions for both the battery percussion section and the front ensemble for the upcoming 2009 marching band season. Every prospective member (non-vets and vets) of the Towson University Tiger Marching Band Percussion section must sign up for a audition. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 12th at the Center for Music and Arts Building (room 3069 for front ensemble, room 3075 for battery). Spots in the battery and front ensemble will not be determined from this audition, however, it is meant for instructional staff to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of all incoming players. Prospective battery members will be asked to play a legatos exercise, a doublebeat exercise, a accent/tap exercise, a rolls exercise, flams, paradiddle variations, and a 30-60 second solo. They will also be asked to sightread a short piece of music. Prospective front ensemble members will be asked to play green, spacial, and a prepared piece of their choice. They will also be asked to sightread a short piece of music.

  • (02/23/09) The TIGER Band is pleased to announce that Danielle Smith has been hired as the TU Marching Band Administrative Assistant! In addition, Danielle will also become a member of our color guard instructional staff.

Yamaha
The Towson University TIGER Marching Band plays exclusively on Yamaha brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
