Click on one of the questions below to jump to the answer. If you have a question that
is not answered on this page, please contact the Director of TIGER Marching Band, Mr. John Miliauskas
at jmiliauskas@towson.edu or by phone at 410.704.5449.
Do you have to be a music major to be in the band?
No, we have many members of the band who are not music majors. The non-music majors have
included Biology, Computer Science, Occupational Therapy, Elementary Education and almost
any other major you could think of. Just because you're not a music major doesn't mean you
can't be a part of the TIGER Marching Band.

Who can join?
Membership is open to all Towson University students, including non-music majors. Instrumentalists and color guard students
who have previous high school performance experience are welcome. The main requirement is a whole lot of "Tiger Pride" and a
strong desire to be part of an energized university marching band! If you have not already enrolled in Marching Band and
would like to do so, please visit the How to Join Page.

What does it cost?
Mainly, a lot of hard work and enthusiasm. Attendance at our band camp is required, but the TIGER Marching Band picks up
the tab for your meals and housing. You must have appropriate footwear (black Dinkle Vanguard shoes, no substitutions),
long gloves (black), and an appropriate lyre and flip folder for your instrument. All of these items can be purchased at
our band camp. There is also a $30 uniform fee, which is collected during band camp. A Tiger Marching Band tee shirt and
polo shirt is provided to each member.

How much time does it take?
During the summer, we have a one-day reading session prior to our Band Camp. Our fall semester rehearsals are held Monday
and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 3:45 to 6:00 PM. On weekends of performances, we rehearse for 1 - 2
hours, eat a complimentary lunch or dinner, warm-up, do our tour of the tailgating, then march into the Stadium to perform
Pre-game. NOTE: When the band performs, attendance from members is required at all games, playoff games, and exhibitions.

When is Band Camp?
Our band camp will begin on different dates for different band members. Percussion Battery only report on Friday, August 17th.
Everyone else including: Pit, Color Guard, and all Brass and Woodwinds report on Monday, August 19th.
We will then spend the week before classes begin by putting together our music, refining the style of the TIGER
Marching Band, and learning drill.

Where will I stay for band camp?
If you live in a dorm, you will be given early admittance into your dorm room for band camp. When you fill out the
2007 Registration Form, you will notice that we inquire about your need for housing at band camp. All you need to do is fill out this form accurately, and we contact housing and arrange for your early arrival into your dorm room.

I've been informed that I have a "New Student Orientation" during band camp. What do I do?
Not to worry! There will be no conflicts between band camp rehearsals and New Student Orientation.

What shows are you playing this year?
The 2007 TIGER Marching Band will perform a show where colors are used to represent different kinds of music. Example: Red for Latin, blue
