Instructions for Mac Users / Alternate Flash Viewer

For all Mac users (and any PC users who can not access the original file), we create a separate DMC presentation in Flash within 72 hours of filming. There are distinct links for these Flash presentations, but the content is exactly the same.

To view them you will need:

Using the Mediasite Viewer

Below is a short presentation on how to use the viewer:

To increase the volume of a presentation, you may adjust the volume of the speakers on your computer or use the Mediasite volume controls (Figure 1, 1).

To fast-forward or rewind the video, you may click and drag the video slider (Figure 1, 2). The slides will remain synchronized with the presentation.

To play, pause, or stop the video, use the video controls (Figure 1, 3).

To watch the video portion of the presentation in a full screen format, double-click the video window or click the Full button (Figure 1, 4).

  • The full screen video may appear to be out of focus or fuzzy. This does not indicate a problem with your player.

To advance the presentation forwards or backwards by one slide, click the slide control arrows (Figure 1, 5). The video will stay synchronized with the slide.

To begin the presentation at a specific slide, select the Slide List tab (Figure 1, 6). Find the slide to view and select Play from Slide. The video will be synchronized with the slide.

To view slides in full screen mode, double-click the slide window or click Max Slide (Figure 1, 7).

To answer a poll question, click the Poll button (Figure 1, 8).

To submit a question about a Mediasite presentation, click the Ask button (Figure 1, 9).

  • During a live presentation, a form will open allowing you to submit your question. Be sure to include your name and email so you will receive an answer to your question. The instructor should be able to answer your question during the class session.
  • For an archived presentation, the Ask button opens your email client and allows you to send an email message to the presenter. You may not get an immediate response to this email.

If you need additional help using the Mediasite Viewer, please watch the following presentation. (placeholder for new viewer link) Figure 1

Troubleshooting

I cannot see the slides clearly. How can I see a bigger version of the slides?
Double click the slide area or click the Max Slide tab in the upper right corner of the slide window to view a full screen version of the slides. The slides will advance and the audio will continue playing in the background.

Why can’t I hear any audio for the presentation?
Make sure you have speakers or headphones connected to your computer. If you are unsure how to check for speakers or headphones, please contact the Center for Instructional Advancement and Technology at 410-704-2005.

If you have headphones and speakers connected properly, make sure your speaker output is at an appropriate level. You can check for speaker volume by either opening the Volume Control from the speaker icon in the system tray or by going to Control Panel à Sounds and Audio Devices à Volume . Make sure Mute all is not selected and adjust the speaker volume to an appropriate level.
