Your financial account and bill include Itemized Charges for tuition and university fees, technology fees, and room and board charges. All other charges, including library fines, Health Center fees, judicial fines and parking fines are identified on the financial account and billed as a Miscellaneous Charge with a code number. The Bursar's Office maintains the Miscellaneous Code Numbers. Identification of the Miscellaneous Charge will be provided only to the student, client or employee financial account holders. An explanation key of Miscellaneous Codes is also provided on the reverse side of the billing statement which is mailed to the student.

Miscellaneous Charges cannot be disclosed to the parent or guardian of a Towson University student in compliance with the Federal Privacy Standard of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The university is committed to protecting the privacy of personal health information of students, clients and employees in compliance with HIPPA. Therefore the reference to health care services and their charges are eliminated from the financial account and bill.
