TU’s Green Initiatives

Clean stream initiative

Towson University has been actively involved in recycling and energy conservation for several decades. We understand the importance of achieving an environmentally sustainable campus and the role that green initiatives play in moving towards that end.

In the coming decade the university will experience unprecedented enrollment growth, and we are committed to use this as an opportunity to implement sustainable initiatives in the physical development and operation of campus. President Bob Caret has embodied this commitment in the clean, safe, pretty, happy initiative laid out in our 2010 campus master plan.

Towson’s students, faculty and staff members have also taken a leading role in the progression of green initiatives on campus. There are several student organizations dedicated to environmental initiatives and many other groups that champion the cause. With assistance from the university’s staff council and many faculty and staff volunteers, these groups host a range of on-campus activities dedicated to promoting environmental awareness, reducing energy consumption and increasing the recycling rate.
