ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION

Traffic Impacts

Information concerning construction impacts on pedestrian and vehicular traffic is organized by location below. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as Towson University expands.

Newell Avenue

Newell Avenue is permanently closed to vehicular traffic between Newell Dining Hall and Dowell Health Center.  Delivery vehicles have access to the Cook Library and Dowell Health loading docks as necessary.  Pedestrian traffic is still available in the area.

Linthicum Hall Parking Lot (Lot 5)

The row of parking spaces in the southernmost portion of the parking lot directly next to Linthicum Hall is currently closed to accommodate utility work for the College of Liberal Arts construction project. The lot will be permanently closed to make way for phase two construction of the College of Liberal Arts building. Information about the closure will be published in the coming months.

College of Liberal Arts

Construction of the College of Liberal Arts building is increasing vehicular and limiting pedestrian traffic patterns on the core campus.  Pedestrian traffic is blocked between Hawkins Hall and the construction fence surrounding the CLA site, and the pedestrian walkway behind the Psychology building is closed. The walkway should be reopened during the spring semester.

Towsontown Garage Addition

The Towsontown Garage addition is complete and the garage is open for use. The eastern vehicular entrance near the Residence Tower is now open, along with the western entrance near Burdick and the center bridge entrance.  In the future, the center bridge will be converted to pedestrian access only.

West Village

Construction of phase I of the West Village Housing project will affect vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns along Emerson Drive.  Emerson Drive does not offer a throughway between Osler Drive and Towsontown Boulevard. Pedestrian access between the West Village and campus is available via a pedestrian path north of the construction site and shuttle routes service the area as well.
